Sanctuary DMV Food and Justice Fund for Immigrant Families

Please donate to make sure immigrant families know they are welcomed and can feed their children.  Western CCB online giving can be used to help support the volunteer led effort of Sanctuary DMV.

Read letter below from Denise Woods to learn more about their work.

HellošŸ’ž,

For many immigrants loss hangs in the air for jobs lost, shoes they canā€™t afford for their children or the covid inundating their communities, but Paulina embodies the fighting spirit that captures their truth more vividly:

Paulina walked through the desert pregnant for 4 months to escape the man who killed her treasured six year old daughter Maria. She too had been hunted down to enact a punishment. The promise of America kept her feet going when her body could not. Now Paulina against all odds giggles in a playground with her precious 2 year old grandson Dylan and her daughter Melisa who just crossed.

Paulina is our dynamo participant-leader who makes everything look effortless: Once a week Thursdays she powerfully plants her feet in the pavement, walkie-talkie in hand, to make sure dozens of her neighbors - 5 families at a time - receive our care packages. She put her own family last in line to receive food. LlegarĆ© el jueves como si no ocurriera nada mĆ”s en mi vida, ya que me alegra muchĆsimo ver gente recibiendo comida y de saber que Ud. nos quiere ayudar. I will show up Thursday as if nothing happened in my life because it fills me with happiness to see people receiving food and to know you want to help us.

WITH 3,233 ON OUR WAITLIST WE KNOW WE CANNOT MEET ALL THE NEEDS:
IF YOU THINK IT IS EXPENSIVE TO FEED A FAMILY OF FOUR - THINK OF 3,200 FAMILIES

When we began we planned to offer solidarity to approximately 200 Brown and Black immigrants we knew. Then our number was spread like a beautiful firestorm to those they loved and then some in a radical act of mutuality and solidarity with their immigrant brothers and sisters living on the margins. They could have said I got mine and gone home.

šŸ’“I urge you to spark your own beautiful wildfire šŸ”„!
Share this with those you love and then some and engage in a radical act of
a transfer of wealth to those who need it the most.

In 5 months 25,156 Black and Brown immigrants greeted our volunteers at their front door!

We raised and spent more than $230,405 to take šŸŒ½produce(food, diapers, OTC meds, formula and sanitary pads) to the people!

Please donate as much as possible to make sure Paulina and others do not have to question
if they are welcomed here or if they can feed their children

How many are in the family?
Are there babies?

Overwhelming appreciation for anything you can došŸ™!
