Participate: #Give828

As part of the PCUSA-sponsored Week of Action (Aug. 24-30), the denomination will be joining #Give828, a national day of giving focused specifically on supporting Black-benefitting organizations. #Give828 isn’t like other fundraising campaigns. This day takes place during Black Philanthropy Month and commemorates multiple important historical landmarks in Black Americans’ march toward freedom. The Anti-Racism Leadership Group encourages members of the Western community to stand in solidarity with Black Americans on August 28 by donating to Black-benefitting organizations.

The denomination is requesting support for the development of religious leaders of color through donations to the Katie Geneva Cannon Scholarship and the Conference of Seminarians of Color. Follow this link to learn more and make a donation:

You might also consider a donation to the Free Minds Book Club organization, which needs support for a project that will provide DC youth recently released from prison with monthly workshops that foster new support systems, job skills, and the tools and confidence to follow a positive life path. Find out more at this link: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/reentry-support-for-dcs-previously-incarcerated-youth/

Alternatively, consider making a donation to one of the organizations listed on the Give828 website at this link: https://www.give828.org/giving-events/ybgb20. Note, Give828 may not list any donee organizations until August 28th. If anyone has any questions or troubles with these links, please feel free to contact Ike Jones at ikejones7@verizon.net.
