Session Notes: April 2023
Your Session sat, in person, for its regular monthly meeting this week. A long agenda greeted us.
As you know, Pastor Laura’s sabbatical begins soon; she will be away for the months of June, July and August. The work of the church and community goes on, of course, and we are working to finalize an agreement with an experienced “bridge pastor” to fill – along with Rev. Irene Bennett -- Laura’s pastoral and administrative duties. We’re enthusiastic about Laura’s time of renewal and a summer change of pace for the congregation. Watch for an announcement about this soon.
“Allyship” training teaches individuals about the causes of social injustice, how to be effective allies for marginalized communities, and how to actively influence and educate others. Our Presbytery periodically offers this training to church leadership (it’s required of all pastors). The Session voted this week to make is mandatory for us, as well.
There are two important personnel vacancies – Digital Communications Ministry Coordinator and Music Ministry Director -- that we’d like to fill, if possible, before Laura’s sabbatical begins. The first position has been posted. We reviewed and approved the Music Ministry position description at this meeting. Recruitment begins immediately.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
