Session Notes: August 2024

Your Session sat for a called meeting this week.  Bridge Pastor David Ensign moderated.

There normally isn’t a regular August meeting (even Sessions take vacations) but, as they say, duty calls. 

Elder Susie Farr, who heads the Session’s Designated Pastor Nominating Committee, reported that the search process is in motion.  Our vacancy announcement (the Ministry Discernment Profile) has been published online and the Presbytery is receiving applications, which they will vet.  In the meanwhile, we are finalizing a set of interview questions that will be administered to qualified candidates.  Introductory phone interviews follow.  Nevertheless, we’re still some months away from installing a new pastor.

It feels like summer, but the new church program year begins in a few weeks.  We discussed Rev.  Ensign’s programmatic plans for the fall.  You’ll hear much more about these from him, but expect a busy agenda marked by commitments to learning (including about one another) and “joy in the spirit” – two matters that (in our opinion) deserve our attention.
