Session Notes: March 2023
For the first time in three years, your Session sat for our regular monthly meeting in-person this week. As we’ve shared with you, there is important and timely work to do, and it helps to have everyone together in the same place.
Some of this work involves staffing, and we reviewed draft position descriptions for two key part-time roles -- the Director of Music Ministry and the Digital Communications Ministry Coordinator. These positions were filled at different times in our recent past. We’re using this opportunity to match responsibilities to our current and anticipated reality.
We appreciate the opportunity to have dialog with you after worship on February 12. About 50 people participated. The table moderators took notes of your comments and reviewed these again in preparation for our meeting. We resolve to stay in close touch with you through our transitions.
By the way, since the congregational meeting in February, church attendance is up overall and in-person attendance has outnumbered online (Lent helps).
Finally, we discussed a framework, prepared by Elder Amy Lenander, to guide our priorities as we move forward. One of these is financial sustainability of our ministry, including the use of our building. Another is growing our church in terms of members and engagement. It’s a work in progress, but we’re mindful of the old adage that if you know not where you’re going, any road will lead you there.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
