Session Notes: September 2022

Your Session sat, by Zoom, for its regular monthly meeting this week.

We heard a report from Lauren Amos and Sherry Trafford, Western’s two designated members on the Miriam’s Kitchen board.  The pandemic was a transformative time for Miriam’s, and it has emerged larger, stronger and more strategically focused than before.  Meal service has moved back indoors and volunteer schedules are being filled, if you’re interested.

Like blowing the ram’s horn to proclaim the Jewish New Year, we called our flock back to in-person worship September 11.  The results for Come and see W.P.C. were encouraging.  We doubled our average in-person attendance back to the pre-pandemic summer attendance level.

With the advent of the new program year, we have a full plate of initiatives from our ministries and interest groups.  We received a request from the Antiracism Group that Western endorse an interfaith initiative promoting a specific Federal action on reparations.  It’s a subject that we support, but involves several precedential questions that we’re running to ground.  Expect some action from us soon.

There will be much more to report on (and talk with you about) in the coming months.
