Western Minute for Mission: Building Bridges Across the River (BBAR) and BBAR Farms

The Mission Team at Western invites you to become familiar with one of the projects we support: Building Bridges Across the River (BBAR) and BBAR Farms. BBAR works to create opportunities for people who live in DC’s Wards 7 and 8, including access to fresh fruits and vegetables, quality health care, job training and education, and cultural events.

You can learn more about BBAR, BBAR Farms, and the 11th Street Bridge Park project by joining a series of weekly, free, live-streamed cooking classes that they are hosting every Tuesday from 6-7pm. All sessions are free and are live-streamed on the BBAR webpage and on Facebook. It’s a fun way to learn about the organization and maybe share new cooking experiences with your virtual community. Registration is at https://bbardc.org/veganchef/. Once you register, you will receive an ingredients list and a link to join the live-streamed class. This week we made berry crumble. Next week the focus is on butternut squash. All classes focus on preparing food that is grown locally at BBAR Farm.
