Session Notes - September 2020

Your Session sat for its regular monthly meeting earlier this week.

Sometimes our meetings are mostly administrative; other times they involve thoughtful contemplation. This was one of the second kind. We discussed community.

Whatever your definition of church, it probably includes the word community. Worship has always been a “corporate” experience – a time when we come together as a body and interact with other believers. As Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

The community aspect of our faith practice has been sacrificed in this time of social distancing. We sorely miss it (and one another), and suspect that you do, too.

There’s no easy solution, but please know that we’re thinking about ways to (safely) reintroduce some personal interaction in our church life. Watch as we take some first steps in this direction -- we’re interested to hear your thoughts.

Here’s some good news. The Children’s and Family Ministry group is ready to begin a virtual Sunday School class for the kids on Zoom. If you remember “Romper Room” or “Ding Dong School” on TV from your early days, this is something like that – except interactive!

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading, stay safe and be well.
