Western Friends,As we continue through the liturgical season of Lent, we continue our journey through a season of change in the larger life of our congregation. Thanks to all who participated – friends new and old – and celebrated Gaston’s work and ministry on Sunday.  His retirement is truly a significant milestone in the life of Western.  We will keep you updated about the establishment of the education fund in his honor and for the sake of the children he cares so much about. We continue to prepare for another milestone as we celebrate Tom Beveridge’s work and ministry.  Please mark your calendars for June 17 worship and a time of celebration immediately following.  We’ll also keep you posted with more details about how you may celebrate Tom.Preparation for Tom’s retirement also means finding someone who will carry on this ministry with the spirit of excellence and innovation.  The new position description for a Director of Music Ministry is now posted on our website and in process with related organizations, including the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, National Capital Presbytery, and American Guild of Organists. We hope to have someone on board by September 1 at the latest.  Please share with any and all you think may be interested!  This comes with thanks to the Music Ministry Task Force folks: John Bader, Amy DeLouise, Beth Duris, Anders Gyllenhaal, Letitia Obeng, and Lowrey Redmond. In this season of transition, I continue to give thanks for each of you, for the Spirit at work in this church, and for the excellent staff and leaders I have the privilege to serve alongside.Grace and peace,Laura
