A Word from Laura: Christmas Eve

Dear Western Friends,

‘Twas the day before Christmas… and I changed what I was going to write. Yes, Virginia [and D.C. and Maryland], there is still in-person worship tonight at Western, although I anticipate seeing most of you on-line. This Sunday in worship we’ll remember the reason for the season both in-person and on-line, with Westerners sharing Christmas poetry and Patrick playing carols with swing. However you worship this year, may you celebrate that Christmas-time is here and join with us in worship as we remember the birth of the Christ child and seek the new birth in our lives and our time.

I’ll also let you know that during the first week of January, I’ll be in touch with the Session to determine whether return to all on-line worship for a few weeks. Please stay tuned to your email the week of January 2.

In the meantime, the church staff joins me in wishing you the merriest of Christmases. Know that the office will be closed next week, so you won’t get another email until 2022. As you remember the silent (or perhaps a little chaotic) night long ago, may you also discover the joy that still comes to our world, in these chaotic times.

May hope, peace, joy and love be yours, now and always,
Laura
