In Life and Death, We Belong to God: Tom Robinson
Tom Robinson, April 20, 1946 – April 16, 2019
Western Church member Tom Robinson passed away on Wednesday, April 16.
Tom resided most recently at Bel Pre Rehabilitation Center, where several deacons would visit with him regularly. He was born in Cheverly, Maryland, and grew up in Chevy Chase and Rockville. An avid camper and nature lover as a child, he graduated from the Sidwell Friends School and attended Yale College. Tom was passionate about railroads and rail travel, a lifelong reader of train timetables. He wrote a biweekly newsletter, Mass Transit Lawyer/Administrator, which he published in Alexandria. He enjoyed good writing and was always eager for copies of The Economist, The Atlantic, and The New Yorker, shared by many Westerners.
For many years Tom was a regular part of a men’s group here at the church. We are grateful for the care shown to Tom by many deacons, especially Carol Petrie, John Caswell, Anna Cook, and Ben Dills. Our prayers are with his sister Martha Sherman in Connecticut and brother David Robinson in Washington State. The family has chosen not to have services at this time, but gives thanks for all of the love shown to Tom by his Western family.
We give thanks for Tom’s life on earth and for his new life with God.
