Want to make a difference in the lives of homeless women in our community? Consider volunteering at Calvary Women’s Services!

Calvary Women’s Services offers housing, health, employment and education programs that empower homeless women in Washington, DC to transform their lives. We are seeking Front Desk Volunteers to assist us with providing a warm, safe and welcoming community to residents, staff and visitors as they enter and exit the program.

Front Desk Volunteers cover shifts from 9 am - 1 pm once a week. They are responsible for answering the phone, welcoming Calvary visitors, and supporting residents. Volunteers may be asked to help with administrative tasks that can be done in tandem with managing the front desk responsibilities. Volunteers are asked to commit to covering one morning a week (M-F) for three months (with the option to extend based on the volunteer’s availability).

Westerners Cindy Stevens and Cheryl Williams volunteer in this role. Cindy writes:

I have staffed the front desk and enjoyed the opportunity to play a small part in helping with day to day operations.  This experience has given me a window into the support Calvary provides women to empower them to achieve their goals for housing and employment.  And when connecting with staff and participants at Calvary, I feel a part of the bigger mission of ending homelessness in DC.  I love using my time for this purpose and putting my faith into action with the Calvary community.

If you are interested, please feel free to talk to Cindy or Cheryl about their experiences in this role. For more information and to sign up, visit https://www.calvaryservices.org/volunteer/
