Your Giving: Supports Vulnerable Populations

Project Create was created in 1994 when Rev. John Wimberly, Jr. recognized a need and sought to fill it. Children attending Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School needed an after-school arts program, and Project Create began providing art classes to children in Western’s backyard. Since that time WPC has provided volunteer support, administrative office space, and financial aid. Project Create has continued to provide a creative outlet for young people living in public housing and other low-income housing communities. In 2019, WPC made a $3000 gift to Project Create.

HIPS has been providing services to sex workers since 1993. Understanding the need to promote the health, rights, safety, and dignity of sex workers, WPC members joined the efforts of the new organization as volunteers and provided financial support. HIPS continues to provide compassionate harm reduction services, advocacy, and community engagement in a respectful, non-judgmental, and affirming way. In 2019, WPC made a $3000 gift to HIPS.
