A Word From David
World Communion
Born in the turbulence of the Great Depression and embraced amidst the horrors of World War II, Worldwide Communion Sunday, as it was initially known, falls on the first Sunday of October when Christian communities around the world gather at the table of our Lord and share the sacrament of communion.
Western will join our siblings around the world on Oct. 6, and celebrate our connections and common commitments. We’ll also share a meal – a global potluck, in this case.
Gathered in the dining room at Miriam’s Kitchen, we will worship around tables, share a meal, share the sacrament, and share some rich conversation about what it means to be the church in our own turbulent time.
We’ll start, as usual, at 11:00 Sunday morning. The service will be conversational over the shared meal, so worship will be a bit longer than our usual. But, hey, we’ll have good food, good conversation, and good communion!
Come, taste and see!
PS: Thanks for the get-well wishes. We give Covid zero stars, and do not recommend. Also, get boosted! This go-round for us was not nearly as bad as round one 20 months ago, for which we’re giving credit to the boosters we got earlier in the month.
