Session Notes: February 2022

Your Session sat, by Zoom, for its regular monthly meeting this week.

The bulk of our meeting – and much of our leadership retreat at the church on Saturday – was devoted to the practice of discernment and comprehensive planning.  It’s been six years since our last congregational “visioning” exercise.   In the meantime, the pandemic wrought fundamental changes in the way we “do” church.  Our financial challenges persist.  It’s time to take another look.

The Mission/Vision process will take months, and likely involve an outside consultant.  All of the ministries and interest groups in our congregation will be part of the conversation.  At the end, we hope to answer this question: “Given all that has changed, what is God calling us to do next?"

We’re just at the beginning of this journey; you’ll hear much more as we go along.

In other news, we reopen the sanctuary for Sunday worship on February 27.  It’s the last Sunday before Lent, and special Mardi Gras music is planned.  We hope that you’ll join us live and in-person.
