Session Notes: March 2023
For the first time in three years, your Session sat for our regular monthly meeting in-person this week. As we’ve shared with you, there is important and timely work to do, and it helps to have everyone together in the same place.
Some of this work involves staffing, and we reviewed draft position descriptions for two key part-time roles -- the Director of Music Ministry and the Digital Communications Ministry Coordinator. These positions were filled at different times in our recent past. We’re using this opportunity to match responsibilities to our current and anticipated reality.

Serve Breakfast at Miriam’s Kitchen
We have official volunteer shifts saved for serving breakfast at Miriam's Kitchen for folks from Western Presbyterian for 2023!
Miriam's Kitchen is the nonprofit that operates from the church and serves meals to people experiencing homelessness. Volunteering there as a small group is a great way to serve others and also meet other people from the area.

A Word from Laura: Music Director Search Update
Western Members and Friends,
The search committee for a new music director has been meeting, and I wanted to update all of you! The committee, chaired by Greta Morris, includes Carlton Brose, Alec Resurreccion, Letitia Obeng Roche and myself. Paul Vasile has helped to resource our group, guiding a discussion of what we hope for, incorporating thoughts from our leadership retreat and position descriptions from other churches.

Free Inquiry Class - March 12

A Word from Laura: Welcome Ariel
Ariel Nathanson Bolinja will accompany the choir and congregation on Sundays this spring as we look for a permanent music director. Ariel graduated from University of Hartford's The Hartt School in 2018 with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance with a Pedagogy Emphasis and was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society.
