The meeting opened, as usual, with a devotional, which this week returned to Sunday’s lectionary scripture about growing up together and speaking truth in love.

Your Session sat, by Zoom, for its regular monthly meeting this week.
After last month’s presentation from the Antiracism Coordinating Team on how we might approach the missional work of antiracism, we followed up in small groups to further discuss their proposals.
At the Session meeting, we shared our hopes and fears regarding antiracism and discussed how we felt God was calling us to act. We then adopted two resolutions. They are:

Your Session sat, by Zoom, for its regular monthly meeting this week.
These are “liminal” times. Liminal is a synonym of transitional, and an apt description of this time in our church life. It’s a period of change and stress. It is not the ideal environment for decision-making, but there is much to decide. In the first part of our meeting, we spent time on the challenges and opportunities of liminality.

Your Session sat for its regular monthly meeting this week. It was another virtual meeting by Zoom…but that may be changing.
Being careful not to get ahead of ourselves, we’ve begun to plan a safe transition back to in-person gatherings in our church building.
Whatever we do will be phased in, with small groups first and worship probably last (and probably no sooner than September). We’ll take it cautiously and evaluate how things are going --and how we all feel about things -- as we go along.
